On Tour With Belle Noire: Day 26

tour-42-scottsdale

We crashed at what would be our last hotel of tour just outside of Scottsdale, AZ. It was a last second decision swayed by the fact that it was 82 degrees at 2:00am and we didn’t want to sweat to death in our sleep. Prior to that decision, Dan and Joey just got away with buying booze before Arizona’s liquor laws kicked in at 2:00am. We were destined to have a fun night in our hotel.

After a night of laughing and falling asleep watching the terribly aged remake of “Lost In Space,” we woke up intermittently. I snagged a shower right before our water was shut off. Apparently there was a city-wide shut down for a water leak in Scottsdale and the cut off time was 10:00am. What a wonderful way to start the last day of tour. I took charge of our half-showered crew and led the lunch brigade to WhatABurger. (more…)

On Tour With Belle Noire: Day 25

texas-pic

It’s hard writing about traveling days. Honestly not much every happens. I’ll do my best to break down some of the key travel aspects of these days and the horrifically boring states that accompany them.

Fast food and gas stations make up the time in-between traveling and even then they’re filled with instant regret. We all eat better on days when there are shows because options are more plentiful in downtown areas next to the venues. Settling for McDonalds, Burger King and Taco Bell every other meal is not exactly how I’d like to eat, but it was what I expected going on tour. (more…)

On Tour With Belle Noire: Day 24

tour-40-austin

A noisy Walmart parking lot woke us up just outside the city limits of Austin. The reviews of this particular Walmart weren’t very favoring and it was easy to see why. Customers drove around recklessly honking and littering trash out of their windows. Despite this irritating all of us, we were surprisingly rested and in decent moods. Each of us got 9 or more hours of sleep. The quality of sleep was debatable, but it was much needed sleep nonetheless.

We had the entire day to ourselves. Load in wasn’t until 6pm and we were ready to start the day at 9am. We navigated to 3 various Verizon stores before we were able to get Dan a new phone. The other night in New Orleans had claimed yet another victim in our group. (more…)

On Tour With Belle Noire: Day 23

bayou

After a night of intense drinking in New Orleans, my body woke me up at 8:30am and told me it was time to start my day. Thankfully I didn’t feel like death and honestly felt a little bit energized. I took this rare opportunity to gather up my clothes and do some laundry at the Days Inn. Even though there’s only 5 days left of tour, I underestimated the amount of gym shorts that were necessary to travel the country with over a month’s time. I constructed a make-shift workstation in the small laundry room and did some work while all my devices charged for the road ahead to Austin.

Call it luck, repetition, or a young body but, I was the only one unscathed by our night in New Orleans. Dan seemed to be holding up rather well in comparison to Rob, Joey, and Roman. (more…)

On Tour With Belle Noire: Day 22

tour-39-new-orleans

The sound of dogs barking and licking our faces was enough to lift us out of our dormant states Sunday morning. Knowing we would feel the same way, we left Kaleb’s early that morning so he could enjoy his home in peace and quiet. We stumbled out to the van and set off for the nearest gas station to get some breakfast and ice to fuel our journey to New Orleans.

New Orleans was discussed earlier on tour as a possible day-off destination because of its proximity to Austin and also because it’s simply New Orleans. The change of schedule would only cost us an extra two hours. The decision was made to get a hotel just outside of the city and Uber in for a night of debauchery and sightseeing. (more…)

On Tour With Belle Noire: Day 21

tour-38-nashville-promo

We woke up in a Denny’s parking lot about two hours outside of Nashville. The plan was to drive all night. The plan failed. Throughout this tour and virtually any road trip I’ve ever been a part of, when the motion of the car slows down or comes to a halt I wake up. The same principles apply to most of the guys in the van. Joey was just too tired from Ocala and we all ended up getting a little more rest because of it.

After scoping out the venue in the early morning, we found all-day parking about ½ block away; a rare commodity in a big city. Our drawstring bags and backpacks were full with gear to get us through the afternoon and we took off. (more…)
