Bad Album Criteria

Casual Punk Fan thought it would be an interesting idea to do a series of editorials on “Bands Bad Albums.” This list will look at several active bands in both the pop-punk and post-hardcore community and focus on albums that were released before 2010. I chose 2010 because 5 years feels like a long enough time to judge an album on whether or not it was “before it’s time” or just plain bad. It is also important to remember that these bands are currently active and producing new music. This will provide insight into how the band progressed or recovered from their bad album.

Let’s get down to the specifics. What constitutes a ‘bad’ album? Measures used in these editorials will be:

Public opinion, critic reviews, drop in popularity, how often the band plays songs off that album on tour, and bands expressing regret about making the album.

Each artists submission may not contain all of these measures, but they will serve as a solid foundation for explaining the reasoning why they are included in this list. Also, if you are a fan of any of these artists and have been following them for a long time, you will understand why they are included to begin with.

We hope you enjoy!
