About Us

Patrick Marion is the co-founder of Casual Punk Fan. Patrick grew up in Lapeer, Michigan and went on to attend Oakland University in Rochester, MI. After receiving a Bachelors of Arts in Communication he decided to stick around higher education a bit longer and get his Master of Arts in Communication with an emphasis in Interpersonal, Cultural, and Media studies. During his time as a graduate student he was given an opportunity to write album reviews and conduct interviews for the now extinct site, AltRockLive. This opportunity allowed Patrick to meet several musicians he grew up admiring and a chance to make a lot of friends in the pop-punk and post-hardcore scene. After AltRockLive shut down in April 2015, Patrick still wanted to find a way to contribute to the scenes he loved so he started Casual Punk Fan with his best friend, Scott Murray. Patrick has since moved to California and works in marketing. His passion is for anything and everything pop-punk.

Scott Murray is the co-founder of Casual Punk Fan. Born in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan he would later meet fellow co-founder Patrick Marion while attending Oakland University in Rochester, MI. Scott graduated with a degree in Business Management with minor studies in Entrepreneurship and History. During his undergraduate career he founded Habitat Media Group, which specialized in filming live studio performances with local artists. The company would later shift it’s focus to producing music videos and documentary-style productions in the metro Detroit area. After graduating, Scott worked for Under The Gun Review and Detroit Sounds Like This as a writer/interviewer where he conducted several interviews with bands in the post-hardcore scene. He also briefly worked with Patrick at AltRockLive before the site closed their doors. Scott moved to the San Francisco Bay Area in 2014 to utilize his videography and photography skills as a Digital Media Specialist in Palo Alto.
