It’s becoming a common occurrence waking up to Joey talking to a mechanic on the phone. Our last trip to a mechanic gave us grim results, but we thought a second opinion couldn’t hurt. Joey and Rob chained the trailer to a dumpster and were on their way. The rest of us stayed back to work and play old school video games with our host Chris.

Chris had an impressive amount of media and electronic collections ranging from vinyl and CDs to video games and consoles. We snacked, showered and napped throughout the day. Pretty much the average day of a cat. I wrapped myself up in my sleeping bag and joyfully watched the newest episode of The Grand Tour to help pass the time. Jake continued to catch up on work and Tim and Rob happily played video games. Joey was able to catch up on merch orders and get a little work done himself.

The call for the van finally came in. It was as we feared; blown head gasket. The only option was to run it as far as we could. We would deal with the fearsome Northwest mountains when we had to. Our initial departure time was delayed due to pure laziness, but I at least tried to fill the time with something I thought was a worthwhile endeavor. I thought it would be fun to create a Top 10 Songs of all time list. I narrowed it down to 25 and went from there. I know such a feat can’t be accomplished in one sitting, so it’s a rough draft and I’m curious to see how it pans out.

Midnight came and we finally started mobilizing. The coolant tank was capped off and we said our goodbyes to Chris and his much needed hospitality. 10 long hours were in front of us. Driving through the deserts of Texas with a blown head gasket to get to the next 4 shows. It’s been an adventure so far, not a pretty one by a long shot, but it’s surely a unique experience.
