Oranges: Las Vegas and Songs without Choruses

Despite a struggling Las Vegas music scene, Oranges have emerged from the desert with plans to storm the nation with their unique brand of turbulent hardcore music. The foursome put out an impressive label debut on Blue Swan Records with their album Taxonomy.

CPF: Who are You guys?

Parker (Vocals): We’re Oranges.

Mason (Bass): Yep.

Parker: We’ve been a band for about 2 and half years. We all went to high school together and used to be in a band called At Sixes and Sevens way back in the day. We’re kinda the only people we’ve hung out with after high school. [Laughs.] We have no friends, except for each other.

AOTM: February – Makari

makari-no-textWe met with Makari outside of Strummer’s in Fresno, CA to talk about life on the road during their first trip out west.

Who are you guys?

Matt: I’m Matt (Guitar) and this is Kevin (Drums). We’re in a band called Makari from Tampa, Florida and we’re out here in California for the first time. It was a long drive with two and a half days of Walmart parking lots.

Does your band have a motto?

Matt: I think every night we just try to tell each other to have fun. I think if we’re having fun, the people in the crowd are gonna have fun. (more…)

Bonfires – ‘The Way This Ends’

bonfires-no-text2One of the best bands to emerge from the Chicago pop-punk scene is Bonfires. Fueled with a never-ending amount of energy and passion, these boys have churned out 3 fantastic EPs. Their most recent EP, The Way This Ends, came out at the end of 2015 along with an announcement that lead vocalist Zech Pluister has parted ways with the band.
