Fresh off the debut release of their first full-length record, Distant Like You Asked, we caught up with Like Pacific outside of Slim’s in San Francisco, CA while on the Alternative Press Tour with State Champs, Neck Deep and Knuckle Puck.

Casual Punk Fan: Let us first get to know you a bit. What did you guys listen to on your way out here?

Do you guys have similar tastes in music when you’re traveling in the van? Is anyone banned from being DJ? (more…)

Carlo Marquez: Stolas Then and Now

stolasFollowing some tours supporting their sophomore album, Allomaternal, Las Vegas band Stolas parted ways with lead vocalist Jason Weiche, forcing some tough decisions for the band. Drummer and backing vocalist Carlo Marquez spoke with us to discuss what fans can expect from Stolas and what they’ve been up to since the change.

The Stolas camp has been quiet for a while, what have you guys been doing for the past few months?

We have songs that we are recording soon. It’s just a couple of demos. Lots of writing for now.

Walk us through the whole change that the band went through. (more…)

Calling All Captains – ‘Disconnect’

Why does Canada churn out the best pop-punk bands? It’s a mystery, but I’m damn pleased they do. Calling All Captains just released their latest EP, Disconnect, this month. Featuring a dash of easy-core, a sparkle of sentimentality, and an overdose of energy, Disconnect aims high and hits its mark. Crack open a Molson (or Labatts, your preference) and nod your head to this downright catchy EP filled with enough mid-2000’s nostalgia to make your day.

Patrick Miranda: Movements and Growing Up Fast

Orange County band Movements released their first music video, “Protection,” a little over a year ago with astonishing results. We had the pleasure of talking with vocalist Patrick Miranda during a brief 5-show run with fellow So-Cal band Idlehands for what would be his first interview ever.

Casual Punk Fan: You guys seem like a pretty young group, is that correct?

Patrick: I just turned 20. All of the rest of the guys are 23.

What is it like pursuing a career in music from such a young age? What do your parents think about it?

Honestly, that’s a touchy subject. (more…)

Rome Hero Foxes – For When You’re Falling Backwards

Hailing from from Katy, Texas and recently signed to Kurt Travis’ Esque Records, this 5-piece progressive rock group is here to start of 2016 the right way. Releasing their sophomore album, Rome Hero Foxes extends their discography with smashing success.

“Falling Out” starts off with a heavy dose of self-reflection and some well-exercised vocals from C.J. Burton. Upon reflection, this opener is the most unique track on the album to feature elements not heard throughout the rest of the record (higher/whispered vocals, brutal lyrics). (more…)
