AOTM: December – No Tide

No Tide

No Tide is the newest and most exciting pop-punk act to come out of Nebraska in quite some time. In late June, No Tide released their first LP Death Of The Sun with Take This To Heart Records and proved themselves to be a must-see band in the pop-punk genre. We got a hold of Vocalist/Guitarist Will Conner to get to know a little bit more about No Tide and what plans they have for 2016. Please enjoy our December Artist of the Month!

CPF: So 5 months in, how does it feel to have your first album released?

Will Conner: It’s awesome. It’s been kind of a long time coming putting out our first LP. We’ve done a few EPs and it was nice to finally be able to do a full record and we got in the studio where (insert name) produced our record. We had done our last EP with him and it was awesome working with him to get the sound we wanted.

Donovan Melero is your booking agent. We actually just did a piece about him on our site and how he books for several bands. How did you get in contact with him?

Donny was actually doing freelance booking under his own name ‘Melero Group’ about 2 1/2 years ago and I had talked with him through booking one of his bands in Nebraska. I had just kept in contact with him when he went to Artery Global and talked to him about our band.

Is it harder to book shows in Nebraska considering you’re in the middle of the country?

It’s a little difficult to get the respect when you’re in a band from Nebraska and not a band from L.A. or NYC, but I’d say it’s actually nice to be in the center of the nation. We can do an East coast or West coast run in two weeks. We are literally dead center. So that’s definitely a positive.

I didn’t think about it like that. That’s actually really awesome.

You guys have a heavy dose of nostalgia attached to your sound. It makes me wonder, what’s your favorite video game soundtrack?

For me it was probably Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. I always really liked the music in that game.

No Tide’s sound reminds me a lot of the early 2000’s with Tony Hawk and NHL games.

Yeah it’s funny you say that. I know the first Tony Hawk game did that for a lot of kids and helped introduce them to the punk and ska genres.

If you could make a tour right now with anyone, who would it be with?

I’d love to go on a tour with Third Eye Blind. They’ve always been one of my favorite bands. I’ve also always wanted to go to Europe and I feel like that’s a tour I’d love to be a part of.

What can we expect from you in 2016?

We already have plans for new music for next year. We’re thinking an EP. Hopefully we’ll have something out around summer. A few tracks at least. Other than that, definitely some touring. Right now, since it’s the winter, it’s slow for us. This is our down time and our break from all of that. In the meantime we’re just writing some new songs. We actually got a new guitar player and he’s fitting in really well, which is awesome. Other than that, on the road as much we can and just keep going.
